Top Whistleblower Attorney Discusses the Importance of Saudi Arabia’s New Whistleblower Law
Saudi Arabia’s King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz issued a Royal Order on May 6, 2018, directing Saudi authorities to provide protection to whistleblowers in corruption cases, after some were mistreated following the submission of such reports.
Chairman of the Saudi National Anti-Corruption Commission (Nazaha), Khalid Al Muhaisen said the royal order stipulated providing adequate protection to employees who reported financial and/or administrative irregularities.
“The employees are not to be threatened regarding job security, benefits or rights,” he said, quoted by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA). “The Royal Order stipulates that the National Anti-Corruption Commission shall report entities that take disciplinary action against employees or threaten their rights or job benefits if they report corrupt practices to the Commission.”
