Founded in 1988, The National Whistleblower Center (NWC) is the leading nonprofit dedicated to protecting and rewarding whistleblowers around the world.

Since inception, the Kohn, Kohn & Colapinto law firm has engaged with NWC on a diverse range of precedent-setting advocacy campaigns aimed to strengthen whistleblower laws and protect the heroic whistleblowers who use them.

Together, we have generated substantial victories for whistleblowers in the U.S., including the recognition of National Whistleblower Day, the passage of the Taxpayer First Act, and a highly successful campaign against proposed harmful Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC) rule changes.

Our team has also been instrumental in the enactment of key whistleblower protection and reward laws such as the Dodd-Frank Act, the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, and the Whistleblower Protection Enhancement Act, among many others.

In recent years, we have expanded campaigns to include global advocacy for stronger protections. Teams work to improve public understanding of key U.S. whistleblower laws with transnational applications like the False Claims ActDodd-Frank Act, and Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.

Together, our ongoing support is designed to educate the public on the importance of whistleblowers and the complex framework of whistleblowers laws in the United States and around the globe.

Current Campaigns

The federal agencies tasked with upholding whistleblower protections have fallen short in implementing the U.S. Anti-Corruption Strategy’s mandates regarding whistleblowers. In fact, many existing rules and practices within these agencies actively hinder or weaken the very whistleblower rights the White House Strategy identifies as crucial in the fight against corruption. The time for decisive action is now.

The seven major campaigns of 2024 that we work with the National Whistleblower Center on, in which you can take action on are:

  1. Demand that the Department of Treasury Implements rules for the Anti-Money Laundering Whistleblower Improvement Act. Learn More
  2. Demand that the Department of Justice accept anonymous and confidential whistleblower disclosures concerning violations of the Bank Secrecy Act – as required by law. Learn More
  3. Demand that the SEC improve whistleblower regulations so that they are consistent with Congressional intent in the Dodd-Frank Act and with the mandate in the White House Anti-Corruption Strategy. Learn More
  4. Demand that the IRS compensate whistleblowers in a timely manner. Learn More
  5. Demand that Congress strengthen the False Claims Act. Learn More
  6. Demand that Congress pass the CFTC Fund Improvement Act. Learn More
  7. Demand that Federal Agencies Respect, Honor, and Compensate Whistleblowers. Learn More

The actions listed above are needed for the U.S. Anti-Corruption Strategy to be implemented.
