Whistleblowers – friend or foe? How to assess and manage whistleblowers
September 19, 2019 | Today, top whistleblower attorney Stephen M. Kohn participated in the 2019 Asset Recovery America Conference as a featured panelist. The conference runs for two days in New York City.
“Whistleblowers—friend or foe? How to assess and manage whistleblowers,” was the topic of the Kohn’s panel discussion. He spoke about the transnational reach of United States whistleblower laws and the best compliance practices to enhance whistleblower protection around the globe. Kohn was joined by Bobby Friedman, a barrister from the UK, to discuss the different jurisdiction’s approaches to dealing with a whistleblower.
“The key to combatting international fraud is to enact laws that protect the confidentiality of whistleblowers,” said Kohn. “We must also incentivize and protect employees who report frauds, and reward those whose information results in successful prosecutions,” Kohn continued.
