Published On: July 28th, 2021

Tomorrow, Congressman John Garamendi (D-CA) will speak at the 2021 celebration of National Whistleblower Day, a landmark event that will recognize the contributions from whistleblowers around the globe.

Garamendi, who is a senior member of the Committee on Armed Services, will talk about the introduction of the Peace Corps Reauthorization Act. The bill would extend the whistleblower and anti-retaliatory protections, which currently apply to Peace Corps contractors, to Peace Corps volunteers.

Rep. Garamendi has a track record of advocating for whistleblowers, as he championed the Wildlife Conservation and Anti-Trafficking Act of 2019.

Other members of Congress who will be speaking at event include Rep. Kathleen Rice (D-NY), Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA), Sen Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ), Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D-IL), and Rep. Jackie Speier (D-CA).

Members of the media are encouraged to RSVP for National Whistleblower Day 2021 for updates and for a link to join the event.
