Profs and Pints Presenting Whistleblowing 101 Lecture

On Wednesday, April 5, social lecture group Profs and Pints will host whistleblower attorney Stephen M. Kohn at Little Penn Coffeehouse for “Whistleblowing 101,” a guide to exposing an organization’s wrongdoing.
Kohn, who also serves as Chairman of the Board at the National Whistleblower Center and as an adjunct professor at the Northeastern University School of Law, has practiced whistleblower law since opening his firm in 1984.
Kohn has represented some of the biggest names in whistleblowing, including Howard Wilkinson, who exposed the largest money laundering scandal in history ($230 billion). Kohn also won the largest ever individual tax whistleblower reward for UBS whistleblower Bradley Birkenfeld ($104 million), and the largest ever reward ever paid to an individual under the related action provisions of the IRS, SEC and DOJ programs ($177 million).
Kohn began practicing at a time where few laws existed for whistleblowers, and has since played a key role in drafting the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, Dodd-Frank Act, the IRS Qui Tam whistleblower amendments, the AML Whistleblower Law and Improvement Act, and the Whistleblower Protection Enhancement Act.
“Whistleblowing 101” will provide an exploration of whistleblower case studies, discuss the laws at play when it comes to reporting fraud, and provide a step-by-step guide on how you may be able to blow the whistle at your own job.
“Whistleblowing is the best way to hold the powerful accountable,” Kohn said. “Learn how employees have forced the largest banks and companies to pay billions in fines, put corporate criminals in jail, and stopped Russian money laundering and privacy violations by Big Tech.”
Those in attendance will receive a special code good for 25% off of a pre-order of Kohn’s upcoming book, Rules for Whistleblower: A Handbook for Doing What’s Right. Free copies of his previous book, The New Whistleblower’s Handbook, will be available to attendees while supplies last.
Little Penn Coffeehouse is located at 801 E Street, NW. Doors open at 6, and the lecture will begin at 6:30.
Tickets are on sale now ($13.50), and will also be available at the door ($17), with a discounted rate for students ($15). Kohn’s percentage of the proceeds will be donated to the National Whistleblower Center, a nonprofit organization advocating for whistleblower rights and legislation.
