Leading Whistleblower Law Firm Endorses National Whistleblower Center’s UN Proposal

Since its founding, Kohn, Kohn, & Colapinto LLP (KKC) has collaborated with the National Whistleblower Center (NWC) on numerous precedent-setting advocacy campaigns to strengthen whistleblower laws and protect those who report corruption. This year, NWC will return to the United Nations Anti-Corruption Conference to advocate for stronger international whistleblower programs and greater protections for whistleblower rights. KKC firmly supports NWC’s proposal to the UN to implement effective prosecutions for international corruption activities, including foreign bribery and money laundering.

The 11^th Session of the Conference of the State Parties (CoSP11) to the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC) will take place from December 14 to 19 in Doha, Qatar. CoSP is the main governing body of UNCAC, bringing countries together to support the implementation of the Convention, share best practices, and adopt new measures to improve international anti-corruption frameworks. As the UNCAC is the only legally binding universal anti-corruption instrument, the NWC’s proposal to implement proven-effective whistleblower measures is of utmost importance.

These cases were brought under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), which serves as a key example of the successful anti-corruption frameworks advocated by NWC and the necessity of whistleblower confidentiality protections.
