Leading Whistleblower Attorney Speaks at World Justice Forum

The World Justice Forum 2022 is being held from May 30 through June 3 both in-person in The Hague, Netherlands and virtually online. At the forum, hundreds of rule of law actors from around the world gather to discuss fair and effective access to justice for all, open and accountable government, and equal rights protections.

On May 31, Kohn, Kohn & Colaptino founding partner Stephen M. Kohn presented at the Forum. Kohn hosted a working session entitled “Whistleblowing for Our Future: Innovations in Society’s Best Anti-Corruption Tool.” Siri Nelson, Executive Director of the National Whistleblower Center (NWC) and Mark Worth, Executive Director of Whistleblowing International co-hosted the session alongside Kohn.

The session was designed to engage participants “in a solutions-driven discussion on harnessing whistleblowing to support their work,” according to the World Justice Forum Agenda. Kohn, Nelson and Worth shared their expertise on incorporating whistleblower protections into comprehensive strategies to improve anti-corruption and rule of law initiatives.

“The World Justice Project’s commitment to whistleblowers is inspiring,” said Kohn. “The participants in our program, who came from around the world, are in the front lines of fighting corruption and defending the whistleblowers who risk so much to vindicate human rights.”

“Whistleblower protections are central to human rights initiatives and combating transnational corruption,” added Nelson. “NWC is uniquely situated to educate and organize global stakeholders and we are so happy we had the opportunity to do so at the WJF.”

The focus of the 2022 Forum is “Building More Just Communities.” Other working sessions at the Forum include “Gender Justice on the Frontlines: Grassroots and Institutional Responses to GBV,” “Addressing the Enforcement Gap: The Proposal for an International Anti-Corruption Court,” and “The Role of Lawyers and Law Societies in Promoting Gender Justice.”
