Kohn, Kohn and Colapinto Selected by National Law Journal as America’s Elite Employment Trial Lawyers Finalist
Washington, D.C., September 25, 2015. The National Law Journal selected Kohn, Kohn & Colapinto to its second annual list of America’s Elite Trial Lawyers as a finalist in the Employment category.
The firms chosen for this list “represent those law firms that are on the cutting edge of plaintiffs-side work in the United States and that have achieved exemplary results for their clients” stated yesterday’s announcement.
Kohn, Kohn & Colapinto, a whistleblower advocacy law firm, was named to the first annual list in 2014 as one of top fifty plaintiff’s law firms in the United States. The firm’s partners were officially named as among “America’s Elite Trial Lawyers.”
Stephen M. Kohn, one of Kohn, Kohn & Colapinto’s founding partners, thanked the Journal for recognizing the firm’s work for a second year: “In addition to getting significant monetary awards for our clients under the False Claims Act and the IRS whistleblower law, we are extremely proud to have represented Mr. Harry Barko in his successful complaint against the mammoth defense contractor Halliburton KBR under the securities laws.”
In the Barko case, the SEC held that KRB’s use of non-disclosure agreements chilled employees from reporting suspected fraud to appropriate authorities. The precedent had national impact; forcing companies to change their secrecy agreements to ensure that whistleblowers could report suspected violations to federal law enforcement.
