Experts To Discuss New Hmrc Whistleblower Program In Upcoming Webinar
Published On: January 23rd, 2026

On February 9, leading whistleblower attorney and KKC partner, Stephen M. Kohn, will join a panel of experts to discuss the HMRC’s new whistleblower rewards program. The program, a breakthrough in global tax evasion enforcement, is modeled after the U.S. IRS Whistleblower Program and aims to incentivize individuals to report tax avoidance and fraud by offering a significant monetary reward.

The new program offers rewards from 15% to 30% of the taxes collected, provided the recoveries total at least £1.5 million. There is no upper limit on the potential rewards.

“The UK tax office has taken a major step forward in effectively using whistleblowers as a critical law enforcement tool in identifying well-hidden tax frauds,” says Kohn, an expert on whistleblower law and anti-corruption enforcement. Whistleblowers, attorneys, government leaders and NGOs need to understand this new program and its implications for enhanced anti-corruption efforts worldwide.”

The webinar will discuss the differences between the new HMRC program and prior reward systems, examples of fraud covered by the program, the protections and limitations of UK whistleblower law, and how the U.K. program compares to the IRS model. It will also cover who qualifies for the program and how to submit a report to HMRC.

Kohn will be joined by an HMRC representative, Eliza Lockhart of the Royal United Services Institute, and Dean Zerbe, Senior Policy Analyst at the National Whistleblower Center and a leading tax whistleblower attorney.

The webinar will take place on February 9 at 10 am EST. Register for the event here.
