Annual Bipartisan Event on Capitol Hill Celebrates Whistleblowers

Today, Members of Congress, agency leaders, and advocates honor whistleblowers at the annual National Whistleblower Day Celebration hosted by the National Whistleblower Center. The bipartisan event brings together whistleblowers, policymakers, and supporters to celebrate the importance of whistleblowers to society.
July 30th, 2019 marks the 241st anniversary of America’s first whistleblower law. A Senate Resolution naming Tuesday “National Whistleblower Appreciation Day,” was unanimously passed last week, marking the sixth consecutive year a National Whistleblower Day event has taken place.
KKC whistleblower attorneys Stephen Kohn, Michael Kohn, and David Colapinto are founders of the NWC and serve pro bono as Chairman of the Board, President, and General Counsel of NWC respectively. Each will participate in the event.
The event features speeches from prominent whistleblowers such as Bradley Birkenfeld (UBS), Sherron Watkins (Enron), and Aaron Westrick (Second Chance Body Armor) and also honors over 60 additional whistleblowers who will be in attendance. Senators Charles Grassley (R-IA), Ron Wyden (D-OR), Ron Johnson (R-WI), and James Lankford (R-OK) will be speaking at the event, as well as Representatives Elijah Cummings (D-MD), Kathleen Rice (D-NY), Jackie Speier (D-CA), and Mark Meadows (R-NC).
