Japanese Press Exposes Toyobo Misconduct in U.S. Body Armor Case
Japan's leading daily newspaper, the Asahi Shimbun, featured the case of Dr. Aaron Westrick, and his allegations that Toyobo conspired with Second Chance Body Armor to sell defective bullet proof vests to U.S. law enforcement. The Department of Justice agreed with Dr. Westrick's concerns and filed a Hundred Million Dollar lawsuit against Second Chance and Toyobo. The case is pending in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
According to Dr. Westrick's attorney, Stephen M. Kohn, "It is about time that the people of Japan learned of the gross misconduct and fraud committed by one of the most important Japanese manufacturing companies. We hope that the government of Japan will open an investigation into Toyobo's corporate misconduct."
